Delft University of Technology
Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), established in 1842, is the largest and oldest Dutch public technical university located in Delft, Netherlands. The university collaborates with many educational and research institutes and has a reputation for high-quality teaching and research. A fascination for science, design and engineering is the common denominator driving the 16,500 bachelor and master students and the 4,700 employees of TU Delft. TU Delft comprises eight faculties with three officially recognized research institutes and numerous research schools. The Systems Engineering Group of TU Delft (www.sk.tbm.tudelft.nl) is a partner of the CIVIS project. The group’s research program focuses on the design and management of Participatory Systems (www.participatorysystems.org). For CIVIS, the group looks at how to design and develop enabling ICT technology for social participation in the energy network. This includes the management of communities and energy services focusing on individual and collective consumer/prosumer empowerment.
