Aalto University, partner of the project, in cooperation with the local EIT ICT Labs and VTT, organized a 2-days hackathon during the weekend 24-25 of May 2014 in the Aalto campus in Otaniemi. The event was part of the Green Hackathon series and was focused on: ICT & Big Data for sustainability.

The partners of the event come from the industry word and include the two startups Mbrain and 720°, which provided their large datasets and from Finnish institutions, such as Forum Virium, Sitra and VTT. Main objective of the event was to raise awareness on sustainable development among students and business, stimulating crowdsourcing concepts and ideas. The event was a success: participants reached the number of 60 people during the 2 days. The winning solutions came from: Sortris, Tehomenu and NENenergy, and other solutions and teams can be found on the event site: www.greenhackathon.com.
